Report on TPS Holders and Eligible Individuals
FWD.us published a report on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders and eligible individuals. The report examines the economic contributions of TPS individuals and finds that long-term TPS holders are significantly more likely to be in the labor force than the U.S. general population. Also, our estimate notes that at least 275,000 TPS holders and as many as 175,000 TPS eligible individuals are currently in the labor market. In all, TPS individuals contribute more than $14 billion to the U.S. economy annually.
The report also offers a data interactive for users to select specific TPS country groups to obtain population estimates as well as economic and demographic characteristics. These data are also available for select states and metropolitan areas where many TPS individuals reside. The press release for the report is here and a social toolkit, including social graphics, can be found here.
The report provides a snapshot of the benefits deportation protections and work permits have offered TPS individuals in the U.S. We hope you will find the data useful as you continue to advocate for a pathway to citizenship for TPS individuals as well as promote the addition of more TPS designations by the Biden Administration.
To that end, we also offer up to you a previous blog advocating for Cameroon to be designated TPS.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or feedback.
